Last online order dates to get gifts delivered in time for Christmas

Order gifts in time for Christmas

Christmas is just a merry couple of weeks away, but not everyone has the time or possibility to buy their presents far in advance, especially with the pandemic limiting the ways we can, or want to, shop. If you are still looking to buy Christmas presents, don’t worry, PriceRunner asked some of the largest retailers what the last dates are for ordering products online to have them delivered in time for Christmas.

Online shopping has hit new levels this year due to the pandemic causing national lockdowns, forcing us all to shop online more than ever before. According to a survey PriceRunner commissioned by YouGov, 55% of Brits have shopped less in physical stores since the pandemic started.

A change in the way we buy Christmas presents

PriceRunner has seen a shift in shopping habits amongst Brits. According to the same survey, one in ten Brits plan to buy more of their Christmas gifts and shopping online this year to avoid physical shops.

Christine Gouldthorp, Consumer Expert at PriceRunner, said:

The pandemic has changed the way we shop, in particular for many older shoppers who haven’t made many purchases online before, where some have even bought products online for the very first time this year. Even though the lockdown has lifted, the pandemic continues to affect our shopping habits into the Christmas season and beyond.

Shopping at Christmas

The pandemic has taken its devastating hit on the economy, however it seems like Christmas can’t be stopped, as half of Brits (47%) plan to spend as much on Christmas shopping as they did last year.

So what do we want for Christmas this year?

A majority of Brits said they wanted the particular gifts as it will bring them joy and happniess (36%) and improve time spent at home (21%).

The top 10 list of what Brits want for Christmas can be found here:

If you still need to buy presents for you loved ones, don’t worry, as there are plenty of shops still taking orders online and guaranteeing delivery in time for Christmas.

Even if some shops are still taking final orders, I would recommend buying what you need as soon as possible. With an entire nation spending more time at home this year and shopping online more than ever before, there is already a large strain on delivery and logistics companies and delivery times are much longer than normal. This way you can hopefully avoid Christmas present arriving after December 25th, said Christine Gouldthorp.

PriceRunner asked some of our most loved retailers in the UK for the last dates to order, as one in ten brits (11%) plan to avoid the shops and buy giftcards of Christmas presents online instead.
