How to save big on a purchasing a new iPhone – simple tips to follow!

The starting prices of the 3 new iPhones have now been released and we’re seeing a new trend with Apple. The initial prices for a new iPhone are lower than they have been for previous models.

Here are the starting prices of the new models:

iPhone 11 64 GB                  £ 729

iPhone 11 Pro 64 GB           £ 1049

iPhone 11 Pro Max 64 GB   £ 1149

New iPhones – should I buy now or wait?

PriceRunner has conducted a thorough analysis on iPhone prices on all models from the iPhone 6 to the newest editions to see what happens to the price of an iPhone when new models are released, along with investigating when the best time of year to purchase an iPhone is.

The price of a new iPhone on average falls by 27 % during the first 12 months it is on the market. For example, the iPhone XR 64 GB price has dropped by 30 % since it was released last year.

There’s a clear pattern in pricing for these items – the first price reductions tend to coincide with Black Friday. Large re-sellers often use the iPhone as an exclusive offer to draw in customers – often with price reductions of approximately 15–20 % during Black Friday.

After that, the prices rise again.

Another trend we can see is that iPhone prices drop up to 30 % 12 months after they hit the market. For example, with the iPhone 7, we saw a price drop of 30 % after 12 months. Now the respective price reduction figure for that same model sits closer to 15 % less than the original price.

The best time of year to buy the new iPhone models is during the early Spring. At this time, prices fall by around 15–20 % and tend to stay at this level thereafter.

When a new model is presented and released to the market, we can clearly see that prices on older models drop. These price reductions happen quite slowly initially but eventually pick up steady pace.

The first price reductions for one of the most popular iPhones currently (the iPhone 8 64 GB) among others, has already come. The price of the iPhone 8 64 GB has fallen by £ 40 or by 9%, which is a markedly high drop over a short period for an iPhone., says Nicklas Storåkers, CEO of PriceRunner

The prices of the ”old” models will continue to fall and there are significant opportunities for savings based on the pricing figures presented by Apple back in September.

Based on our analysis we advise that you wait– don’t buy the new model the day it’s released to the market when you can get it at a significantly reduced price later. Especially during those key times on Black Friday and in early Spring., Storåkers recommends.

If you’re looking to buy an iPhone, comparing prices is both important and recommended.

A comparison of the most popular iPhone models reveals that on average, you can save up to 59 % – just by comparing the prices online and purchasing them at the cheapest store., says Storåkers.

Interestingly, the Apple iPhone 7 128 GB that was released in 2016 remains highly popular. The current lowest price when compared among 44 stores is £ 279.95.

The most popular iPhone currently is the Apple iPhone XR 64 GB. Its price has fallen by 30 % since it was released last year and is set for further price reductions.
